RageBreak Jailbreak 7.0.4 Tethered On Windows, iPhone 4 Tutorial

Jailbreak 7.0.4 Tethered iPhone 4 Tutorial with RageBreak for WindowsiOS 7.0.4 Jailbreak RageBreak for Windows
Following our recent jailbreak 7.0.4 tutorial using RageBreak for OS X, a new version of the GUI (graphical user interface) utility for Windows was released today. In light of that news, popular YouTuber
iCrackUriDevice posted an excellent in-depth video guide on how to jailbreak 7.0.4 on the iPhone 4 using the new RageBreak utility for Windows. The RageBreak tool for iOS 7.0.x is based on winocm’s opensn0w jailbreak, which is made possible by Geohot’s ancient limera1n exploit from over three years ago. Like with the command line tool for OS X, RageBreak is nothing new, it’s simply a convenient GUI for winocm’s opensn0w project. The steps outlined in this written iOS 7.0.4 jailbreak tutorial will also function on GSM and CDMA iPhone 4 models running iOS 7 through 7.0.3 and, of course, 7.0.4 – individuals with newer iDevices should stay tuned for future updates concerning the evad3rs’ upcoming Untethered iOS 7 utility.
As previously mentioned, the new RageBreak Windows iOS 7.0.4 jailbreak is compatible with the following iPhone models.
  • iPhone 4 GSM (AT&T)
  • iPhone 4 CDMA (Verizon)
OS X and iPhone 4 (3,2) owners should follow our in-depth Mac tutorial for the command line jailbreak utility.
Furthermore, due to the fact that this is indeed a Tethered jailbreak, iPhone 4 owners will be required to boot Tethered every time the iPhone needs to reboot.

Crucial Prerequisite Jailbreak Instructions
Before you proceed with this Tethered Jailbreak, ensure that you have the following:
  • An iPhone 4 (either 3,1 or 3,3) running iOS 7.0.4 or any public version of iOS 7.
  • The RageBreak exe for Windows and the latest version of both iTunes and Java Development Kit, which can be found in the download section listed below.
  • .Net Framework – most Windows-based PCs have this installed by default, there’s a link inside the actual RageBreak tool if you’re unsure though.
Finally, it’s important to understand that the version of Cydia that will be install on iPhone 4 models that are jailbroken using this tutorial will not be officially supported. In addition to enabling root access, RageBreak installs a modified version of Cydia for iOS 7 and the iPhone 4, which is based on Saurik’s iOS 6 version of Cydia. Due to its unofficial nature, users may encounter issues with Cydia once jailbroken. With that said, proceed at your own risk.

How to Jailbreak 7.0.4 iOS Tethered on Windows with RageBreak

Step 1: Download the RageBreak.exe from our download section, which is listed below, to ensure that you are obtaining an authentic version of the utility. Once downloaded, place RageBreak on your desktop, right click and select the option to run the program as an Administrator.
Step 2: Upon loading the RageBreak .exe file, click the first option, followed by “ok” to have RageBreak download all of the opensn0w files.
Step 3: Connect your iPhone 4 to your Windows PC via a standard 30-pin USB cable and enter DFU mode by holding down both the home and power buttons for a total of ten seconds. Once ten seconds has passed, release the power button and continue to hold the home button for an additional ten seconds.
Step 4: Click the second option inside RageBreak and click “ok”  to alert the utility that your iPhone is already in DFU mode. Once the Java app has finished using the limera1n exploit to achieve root access, click “ok,” followed by “ok” to a new “Transferring Files” prompt that should appear. Finally, for this step close out of the Java window and proceed.
Step 5: Enter DFU mode by following the process outlined in the third step, click the boot option that corresponds with your device and firmware version (note, 3,1 is reserved for the AT&T iPhone 5, whereas the 3,3 designation is reserved for CDMA versions) and click “ok” to inform the utility that your iPhone is in DFU mode.
Step 6: Once your iPhone reboots, open the default Settings app, tap “Wi-Fi,” followed by the “i” next to the network the device is connected to and take note of the number listed in the IP Address field, you’ll need it.
Step 7: Click the option to “Install Cydia” inside of the RageBreak executable, input the IP Address obtained in the previous step into the command prompt window popup and push the Enter or the return key on your computer’s keyboard. When asked to authenticate the connection, type “y,” followed by return.
Step 8: After Cydia and all of the necessary packages have been installed via SSH, it’s safe to close out of the command prompt window. At this point, enter DFU mode (refer to the third step) and boot your iPhone 4 Tethered by selecting one of the options mentioned in the fifth step of this tutorial. Once your iPhone reboots, it will have a fully-functional (modified) version of Cydia.
  • As mention toward the beginning of this article, you’ll be required to follow the fifth step evert time you need to completely reboot your iPhone 4.
Congratulations, after only eight simple and easy-to-follow steps, you have successfully jailbroken your iPhone 4 running iOS 7.0.4 using RageBreak for Windows.
